Though small, this is a great cookbook because the recipes are made with ingredients that are readily available. So many recipes on the internet require tons of hard to get ingredients and I am just not competent to manage that degree of pre-planning. These are recipes that will become a weekly affair, good for feeding a family or for cooking for one. It has many vegetarian dishes as well meat ones, so you can get a lot of variety and serve a full course meal from this book easily. I want to do the carrot ring with adaptions for my vegan friend. This cookbook gives easy recipes that are tasty, easy to make and don't require lots of different ingrediants. I mean really, many new cookbooks require ingrediants that I never even heard of, this one doesn't. I love it and use it almost daily.
The recipies that I've tried are easy (essential for me!) and very good. I've enjoyed using this book very much. He has done a great job making the recipies healtheir than the originals.
I ordered three of these for a party. I cooked recipes from the book for the party and used two as prizes! The food and the books won as prizes were both popular. Stephen D. Stanley is an excellent author; I've read everything he's written (Stephen, would you hurry up and write more please!!!!).
